History, current results, and research in marrow transplantation

Article Abstract:

Bone marrow transplantation is now being used for treating various diseases associated with the bone. Bone marrow transplantation is conventionally used for treatment of leukemia. It involves the application of supralethal chemo-irradiation and marrow grafting. The various difficulties encountered in marrow grafting have been overcome due to advances in technology. The process is now used to treat diseases such as lymphoma, myeloma and thalassemia.

Current perspectives on the function of sleep

Article Abstract:

A number of sleep theories have been put forth and fluctuations in biologic patterns have been measured during sleep, but the function of sleep is not yet understood. Sleep can be understood as fulfilling many different functions but intuition suggests there is one essential function. The discovery of this function will open an important door to the understanding of biologic processes.
