Satisfying the nation's appetite

Article Abstract:

The restaurant industry can be considered a mature industry, as can be gleaned from its consolidation, acquisition and divestiture activities. The industry, however, is not seen to post enormous growth until the next 10 years due to the large number of eating out alternatives that has made the landscape highly competitive and the projected modest increase in the domestic population. Keen competition within the industry has, in fact, spurred many US restaurant chains to explore growth opportunities abroad, including McDonald's, Wendy's and Hard Rock Cafe.
