Hospitals try varied tactics in battle for patient dollars

Article Abstract:

In the North Side of Chicago there are several hospitals that are close to one another. These hospitals compete among themselves with health services and programs directed at the needs of the people in their areas. They offer these services, usually for a small fee, and aggressively advertise in local publications and brochures to attract attention to their unique programs.

Willowbrook of the '80s shows progress

Article Abstract:

The Staten Island Development Center (SIDC), formerly Willowbrook State School, is now treating clients who range in age from 18 to 76. The clients are severely or profoundly mentally retarded and many have serious physical disabilities. SIDC tries to create innovative programs, deinstitutionalization, and an atmosphere that is good for physical and mental health.

Dentists drill into 'busyness' problem

Dentists are concerned about the recent decline in patients and what it means to their future. They are planning new marketing and practice strategies that will best fit the future needs of dentistry and make it convenient for prospective patients.
