Opportunities for growing in the field of nursing is limited and promotion and training are key to the development of morale of nurses. Agenda for Change has focused on the issue of pay and is designed to assist nurses in updating or developing their knowledge and skills thereby improving their promotion prospects and career prospects.

A mental health nurse in Rugby discuss on the problems faced by a married nurse having children in regards to their promotion. She believes that nurses like her are left with two alternatives that include the first to patiently wait for her family to grow, and raising the issue so that there is a chance of changing the culture.
