How to get credit for your previous learning

Article Abstract:

Researchers questioned nursing and midwifery continuing education establishments to assess the situation concerning assessment of prior certificated learning (APL) and assessment of prior experiential learning (APEL). Nurses should be able to apply for AP(E)L to receive credit in the credit accumulation and transfer system. The research showed the AP(E)L system to be in place, although access is confused and transfer of credits between institutions is difficult. Successful AP(E)L applicants generally have to supply a large amount of evidence. They need to be able to write well, to use references and to demonstrate reflection on practice.
