The fleet and operations manager of Coeclerci Shipping (Italy), shipping company, Tobia Costagliola, believes that the proposals of the IACS on the safety of bulk carriers is a step forward. Although Coeclerci will be adversely affected by the age limit on bulk carriers, Costagliola appreciates that there can be no compromise on safety.

Roy Disney's Pyewacket set a record for monohull yachts in the Transpacific Yacht Race, finishing in 7 days, 11 hours, and 41 minutes. That time was 3.75 hours shorter than the record set by Disney's previous Pyewacket. The Grand Illusion was overall winner with the third fastest corrected time ever.
