Identification of the Ebola virus glycoprotein as the main viral determinant of vascular cell cytotoxicity and injury

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that mucin-like domain of the Ebola virus glycoprotein is responsible for the viral pathogenicity and for hemorrhage during infection. Data indicate that the glycoprotein causes these cytotoxic effects in human endothelial cells via a serine-threonine-rich mucin-like domain.

Heme oxygenase-1 protects against vascular constriction and proliferation

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the heme oxygenase, an inducible protein activated by the oxidant stress in the systemic inflammatory conditions. Results indicate that this oxygenase reduces vasoconstriction and inhibits cell proliferation during vascular injury.

NIH research on obesity and type 2 diabetes: Providing the scientific evidence base for actions to improve health

Article Abstract:

The US National Institutes of Health (NIH) aims at developing strategies for prevention and treatment of various diseases and also provides several scientific evidence for the implementation of actions to cure diseases like obesity and type 2 diabetes. NIH supports many basic and clinical research partnerships in obesity to achieve this goal and also seeks various other researches to improve the health of the whole nation.
