Impact of Medicare coverage on basic clinical services for previously uninsured adults

Article Abstract:

Many uninsured Americans will increase their use of health care services when they reach the age of 65 and qualify for Medicare coverage, according to a survey of 2,203 adults between 60 and 64 years old. Those who qualified for Medicare and were previously uninsured were more likely to get their cholesterol checked, and to have mammograms and prostate exams than they were before they qualified for Medicare.
