In vivo delivery of the caveolin-1 scaffolding domain inhibits nitric oxide synthesis and reduces inflammation

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that caveolin-1 scaffolding domain is able to selectively regulate endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) signal transduction, resulting in the suppression of vascular leak and acute inflammation similar to a glucocorticoid. Implications for therapeutic approaches via small-molecule mimicry are discussed.

Antagonism of Rho-kinase stimulates rat penile erection via a nitric oxide-independent pathway

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the regulation of penile erection, focusing on the impact of Rho-kinase antagonism on cavernosal tissue, smooth muscle cells, and blood pressure in rats. Findings suggest that Rho-kinase antagonism initiates an erectile response independently of nitric oxide.

Thymosin beta 4 sulfoxide is an anti-inflammatory agent generated by monocytes in the presence of glucocorticoids

Article Abstract:

Researchers have discovered a peptide produced by monocytes in the presence of glucocorticoids that has anti-inflammatory properties. Thymosin beta4 sulfoxide inhibited neutrophil chemotaxis and limited edema in a study in mice.
