Indinavir crystallization around the loop of Henle: experimental evidence

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on plasma and nephron indinavir. The determination of the concentration site of these compounds at which intrarenal indinavir crystallization occurs has been carried out, and the results suggest that this crystallization starts in the loop of Henle and at plasma indinavir concentrations and that the increased hydration does not reduce indinavir crystallization risk in the loop of Henle.

Increasing incidence of avascular necrosis of the hip in HIV-infected patients

Article Abstract:

The authors discuss the study on avascular necrosis of the hip occurring as a complication of HIV disease or as a results of the protease inhibitor therapy used for HIV disease treatment. The suggest that protease inhibitor use is not associated with avascular necrosis occurrence.

Persistent leukocyturia and loss of renal function in a prospetively monitored cohort of HIV-infected patients treated with indinavir

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on indinavir treatment complications. Results demonstrate that leukocyturia is frequent during indinavir treatment and that renal function needs to be monitored during this treatment even if there are no urologic symptoms.
