Intolerance of cow's milk and chronic constipation in children

Article Abstract:

An intolerance to cow's milk may cause chronic constipation in some children. Researchers randomly assigned 65 children with chronic constipation to drink cow's milk or soy milk for 15 days, after which they were switched to the other milk. Sixty-eight percent of the children began having bowel movements while they were drinking soy milk, whereas none had bowel movements while drinking cow's milk. Cuts on the anus healed when they drank soy milk, but this was not seen when they drank cow's milk.
