Dystocia among women with symptomatic uterine rupture

Article Abstract:

Pregnant women who are attempting a vaginal birth after a cesarean should still have a cesarean if cervical dilation is delayed for two hours or longer. This can prevent uterine rupture, which is a serious complication of vaginal birth after cesarean.

Is abnormal labor associated with shoulder dystocia in nulliparous women?

Article Abstract:

A study is undertaken to evaluate the association between shoulder dystocia and labor abnormalities in nulliparous women. The results revealed that the length of second stage of labor, the number of patients with a second stage of labor greater than 2 hours, and the rate of operative vaginal delivery were increased in the shoulder dystocia group.

How small is too small in a twin pregnancy?

Article Abstract:

Twins who are small for gestational age are just as likely to die as single infants in the same category. Researchers analyzed death rates among 1,416 twins and 59,873 single infants. Twins with birth weights in the 10% percentile were twice as likely to die as single infants with the same birth weight. This indicates that smallness is not necessarily normal in twins.
