Is there an effective treatment for neurally mediated syncope?

Article Abstract:

More research is needed to develop effective treatments for neurally mediated syncope. Syncope is the medical term for fainting, and neurally mediated syncope means the fainting is caused by a nervous system abnormality. For this reason, pacemakers and drugs that affect the heart may not be effective treatments.

Syncope

Article Abstract:

The causes, diagnosis, and treatment of syncope are reviewed. Syncope is the medical term for fainting. It is most often caused by a temporary loss of blood flow to the brain. It has many causes, including low blood pressure, drugs, heart disease, and psychiatric disorders.

Neurocardiogenic syncope

Article Abstract:

A case of a 23-year-old nurse is presented for evaluation who had five episodes of syncope at work within a period of three months. Evidence supporting various strategies is presented, followed by review of formal guidelines, and clinical recommendations.
