Judge issues injunction against Marshfield Clinic
Article Abstract:
Federal Judge Barbara Crabb has issued an injunction forbidding the doctor-owned Marshfield Clinic and its health maintenance organization (HMO) from signing illegal contracts in northern Wisconsin. The ruling is a precursor to a 1997 trial involving the allegation by Blue Cross and Blue Shield United of Wisconsin that Marshfield conspired with another HMO to divide a market illegally. However, Crabb also ruled that Blue Cross must meet a high standard of proof in the case.
