Venus: Earth's ugly sister

Article Abstract:

The Magellan spacecraft, launched in 1990, is transmitting radar images of the planet Venus. The planet is approximately the same size and density as Earth, but the similarity ends there. Its atmosphere is full of carbon dioxide, clouds are composed primarily of sulphuric acid, air pressure is 90 times that of Earth and its surface temperature is over 500 degrees Celsius. Over 1,600 volcanic features have been mapped on Venus, associated with warm places in the planet's crust. Data suggests no place on Venus is more than 500 million years old, though that theory is being debated.

Jumping to the wrong conclusion

Article Abstract:

The case of an 82-year-old woman illustrates that many elderly patients may present a diagnostic challege. She was hospitalized with altered mental status, enlarged lymph nodes, weight loss and a mass in her abdomen. Her physicians suspected a type of cancer called lymphoma and ordered a series of tests to confirm this. They were unable to confirm this diagnosis and two weeks after she was hospitalized she was found to have tuberculosis.
