Keeping children safe from allergies

Article Abstract:

The experiences of Rosemary King, allergy sister and children's research sister at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust and the local Wellcome Trust clinical research facility (CRF), in children's allergy clinic has inspired research and benefited her patients. She has developed a nurse-led service to manage straightforward cases, including the 'undiagnosis' of allergy, and she was also named as a finalist in the Innovation in Your Specialty category of the NT Awards 2005.

Improving bulimia care

Article Abstract:

Mental health nurse Miriam Grover, team leader in the eating disorders outpatients unit at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust, was named the an Awards 2005 Rising star for helping people with eating disorders. She implemented the new method, a CD-ROM initiative to present cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to help people with bulimia.

Article Abstract:

A number of nurses are enrolling on counseling or psychotherapy courses either to enter into a new career or use it as a step up ladder to a specialist role. These courses can make individuals more self-aware and more effective in their everyday nursing practice.
