Leadership in safety management

Article Abstract:

The introduction of harsh penalties may be necessary before senior managers become more responsive to health and safety issues in their companies. Senior managers, in UK companies, often delegate the responsibility of the management of occupational health and safety to their junior managers. Senior managers must be involved in training schemes for health and safety to ensure they are competent. Documentation published by the Health and Safety Executive points out senior managers must endeavour to create health and safety management systems.
