Light-emitting diode curing light irradiance and polymerization of resin-based composite

Article Abstract:

The properties of resin-based composites cured with Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights are analyzed. Performances of six of the seven LED curing lights evaluated are similar to quartz-tungsten-halogen curing light in curing resin-based composites. Dentist can use depth of accuracy (DOC) of any curing light/resin-based composite/shade combination, as a reference to confirm that an adequate cure is achieved consistently over the life of curing lamp bulb, transformer, battery or LEDs or resin-based composite.

The light-curing mania

Article Abstract:

The latest light-curing lights that are used in restorative resin curing and suggestions for the appropriate use of curing light are discussed. A change of plasma arc curing (PAC) light or fast halogen lights is not required if they offer the same characteristics as the light-emitting diode (LED) lights, but with continued upgrading and improvements in LED lights, it will be the most used method for curing restorative resin

Curing performance of a new-generation light-emitting diode dental curing unit

Article Abstract:

The curing efficiency and peak polymerization temperature [T(sub p)] of a new high-powered (HP), battery-operated light-emitting diode (LED) dental curing light is examined. It is found that the battery-operated HP LED curing light might be an effective, time-saving alternative for clinicians to use in light resin-based composites.
