Workforce confederations and policymaking organizations across the country have a moral obligation to ensure all health care professionals receive childcare provision. Further, it is stated that the Commission for Health Improvement should make the childcare needs of nursing students one of the standards on which hospital star-ratings are judged.

Do trust inspections truly reflect hospital hygiene?

Article Abstract:

The results of the Patient Environment Action Teams (PEATs) 2004 assessment have caused an uproar in the national press indicating that only 27 out of 1,200 hospitals in England were poor or unacceptable in terms of cleanliness, patient environment and hygiene. The way the PEAT inspections work and the media hype created by it, are discussed.

Are politicians serious about winning nursing's vote?

Article Abstract:

The impact of Conservative and Liberal Democrat health policies have on nurses is discussed. The other key aspect of the Lib Dems' manifesto is to recruit more nurses including community nurses and it also plans to tackle problems such as strengthening the power of infection control team and creating stricter protocols on hospital hygiene.
