Pregnancy in von Hippel-Lindau disease

Article Abstract:

Women with von Hippel-Lindau disease can safely become pregnant and have a healthy baby. People with this genetic disorder have a high risk of cancer. In a study of 56 pregnancies in 30 women, 10 of whom had been diagnosed with von Hippel-Lindau disease, only three pregnancies increased the severity of the disease. In all three cases, the women were successfully treated and delivered a healthy baby.

A comparison between middle cerebral artery peak systolic velocity and amniotic fluid optical density at 450 nm in the prediction of fetal anemia

Article Abstract:

Measuring the flow of blood in the middle cerebral artery of an unborn baby during an ultrasound scan can identify babies who have anemia, according to a study of 28 pregnant women. This is a non-invasive method that eliminates the need to do amniocentesis or cordocentesis. Anemia means the baby has fewer red blood cells than normal.
