The study provides a model that can be systematically examined to identify the players and circuits that interconnect cancer and coagulation. Selectivity target tumor progression or coagulation can be evaluated for overall effects on pathogenesis, and new therapies can be assessed for efficacy.

Study evidence based on cell-autonomous mouse model of drug resistance is presented. It suggests that cytokine signaling from the tumor microenvironment could permit leukemia cells to overcome drug treatment and survive targeted imatinib therapy.
