Make marketing your business

Article Abstract:

Nurses need to recognise the value of marketing, which is about assessing strengths, responding efficiently and politely to users of the health service and developing good practice. Nurses are a significant force within the National health Service and they need to ensure that their voices are listened to if they want to influence the future development of the service. Ideas can become practice if nurses learn to communicate effectively with managers, purchasers and patients. They also need to understand the ideas of internal markets and competition which underpin the health service reforms.
