Managed care changes the approach for marketing

Article Abstract:

Providing gauges of the quality of services offered is the best way for physicians to attract the attention of and contract with managed care programs. A physician's accessibility and demeanor when relating to patients, the comfort of facilities, and patient comprehension of diagnoses and treatment can be evaluated through surveys that can be used to inform managed care organizations of the quality of physician services. Clinical care review programs are also effective means for physicians to provide managed care programs with assurances of the quality of their services.

Get ready for the changes that capitation will bring

Article Abstract:

Medical practices signing on with managed care providers need to prepare themselves for contracts that provide for capitation payments. The fixed monthly capitation payment to each health plan member requires special tracking by physicians. The managed care plan should keep physicians updated with current lists of enrollees which should be compared with an internal list. Physicians need to track services provided for capitated patients and verify that they were reimbursed sufficiently for services.
