MicroRNAs move into cancer research

Article Abstract:

The gene-silencing technique known as RNA interference is used by many cancer researchers to effectively mute the expression of genes that drive malignancies. Scientists have known for many years that microRNAs, which are 21- to -25- nucleotide-long regulatory molecules, influence normal growth and development in plants and animals.

Funding, advances invigorate TB fight

Article Abstract:

The emergence of multidrug-resistant TB strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and coinfection with HIV are the major complications in treating the patients. The complete genome sequence of the best characterized strain of M tuberculosis would help advance efforts to develop better diagnostic tests, drugs and vaccines.
