Ramping up rehabilitation research urged as a "public health imperative"

Article Abstract:

Joint conference of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine and the American Society of Neurorehabilitation held in September 2005 debated on the sophisticated techniques and fundamental issues concerning research capacity in rehabilitation medicine. One of the experts revealed that there is lack of many resources such as federal funding, and mentors for young investigators entering the field for acquiring the objectives.

Anti-HIV microbicide efforts press on

Article Abstract:

Five microbial agents are examined in 6 clinical efficacy trials and many are in the phases of clinical study in an effort to develop a safe, effective topical anti-HIV microbicide. The research pipeline holds additional promise in anti-retroviral drugs such as tenofovir that are being studied to determine if they are as potent in topical formulations as they are in pills.

Stress, sleep loss, and substance abuse create potent recipe for college depression

Article Abstract:

University of Michigan's Mental Health Research Institute performs studies that addresses depression on college campus. Students' increased sleep problems and mounting reports of depression are discussed briefly.
