Might mammalian mitochondria merge?

Article Abstract:

The successful development of a transgenic mouse model carrying pathogenic mtDNA will cause to take a fresh look at the dynamic organelles. The model showed that all mitochondria have a homogenous pattern of COX activity irrespective of the overall level of heteroplasmy and of COX activity.

Putting the heat on cancer

Article Abstract:

Two studies have shown how the heat shock response from the transcription factor heat shock factor-1 (HSF1) bolsters tumerogenesis. Results have supported the development of drugs targeting the mechanism for cancer management and treatment.
