Mutations in the tyrosine phosphatase CD45 gene in a child with severe combined immunodeficiency disease

Article Abstract:

A child with combined immunodeficiency disease was found deficient in the protein kinase CD45, which this study shows also produces T- and B-lymphocyte dysfunction. CD45 regulates receptor signal transduction in Src kinases.

CD4 (super)+ T cells: the great escape

Article Abstract:

RNA viruses are able to avoid destruction by CD8 (super) + cytotoxic lymphoctes by several means, one of which is mutation. Research has shown these viruses also use mutation to keep from being attacked by CD4 (super) + T cells.

Microbial translocation is a cause of systemic immune activation in chronic HIV infection

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate whether microbial translocation is a feature of chronic HIV infection that contributes to systemic immune activation. The findings suggest that the increased translocation of gastrointestinal microbial products directly contributes to systemic immune activation in the chronic phase of HIV infection and might ultimately determine the rate of progression to AIDS.
