Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum in midtrimester amniotic fluid: Association with amniotic fluid cytokine levels and pregnancy outcome

Article Abstract:

Association between detection of Mycoplasma (M) hominis or Ureaplasma (U) urealyticum in midtrimester amniotic fluid and amniotic fluid cytokine concentrations and subsequent pregnancy outcome were studied. Detection of M hominis or U urealyticum in midtrimester fluid by polymerase chain reaction-enzyme-linked immunosorbent may be a risk factor for rupture of membranes.

Association between fetal interleukin-1 receptor antagonist gene polymorphism and unexplained fetal death

Article Abstract:

An association between fetal interleukin-1 receptor antagonist gene polymorphism and unexplained fetal death is proved. Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist plays a crucial role modulating the proinflammatory response, while the gene coding for interleukin-1 receptor antagonist is polymorphic.

Polymorphism in intron 2 of the interleukin-1 receptor antagonist gene, local midtrimester cytokine response to vaginal flora, and subsequent preterm birth

Article Abstract:

Association between polymorphism in intron 2 of interleukin-1 receptor antagonist gene and subsequent spontaneous preterm birth was studied. ILIRN*2 carriage was associated with blunted proinflammatory interleukin-1beta response to vaginal flora that was abnormal.
