National autism summit charts a path through a scientific, clinical wilderness

Article Abstract:

The Children's Health Act of 2000 created the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee whose congressional mandate was to develop a 10-year agenda of autism research. Autism affects between three and six children out of every 1,000 children and the number of children diagnosed with autism began increasing in the 1990s. The Cure Autism Now (CAN)Foundation has raised $12 million for autism research since 1995.

GAO: Medicare ads were illegal

Article Abstract:

The decisions taken by the General Accounting Office (GAO) of touting the new Medicare prescription drug act due to illegal ads is discussed. But however this decision is nonbinding and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) indicated it would not take any action.

Does video game violence sow aggression?: studies probe effects of virtual violence on children

Article Abstract:

The effects of violent video games on children are discussed. An appeals court in Washington is expected to pass a rule on whether the Washington state law ban on the sales of 'cop killing' games to minors is justified.
