Negotiated safety relationships and sexual behavior among a diverse sample of HIV-negative men who have sex with men

Article Abstract:

A study is done to examine the prevalence of negotiated safety (NS) in a diverse sample of HIV-negative men who have sex with men (MSM), characteristics of MSM practicing NS, and adherence to NS. The result showed that prevention efforts regarding NS should emphasize the importance of agreement adherence, disclosure of rule breaking and routine STI testing.

Cost-effectiveness of hte Mpowerment Project, a community-level intervention for young gay men

Article Abstract:

The Mpowerment Project is cost-effective, saving $700,000 to $900,000 in medical costs over five years at a cost of $14,600 to $18,300 for each HIV infection prevented. This project was implemented in Eugene, Oregon, and Santa Barbara, California, to prevent HIV infection in young gay men.

A longitudinal study of the association between treatment optimism and sexual risk behavior in young adult gay and bisexual men

Article Abstract:

The possibility that treatment optimism does not exclusively precede risk, but rather may also result from past risky sexual behavior is explored. It is learnt that treatment optimism is associated with sexual risk behavior among young adult gay and bisexual men.
