Neuroendocrine cells in Barrett's Mucosa and adenocarcinomas of the gastroesophageal junction

Article Abstract:

The prevalence and prognostic significance of neuroendocrine (NE) cells is estimated in a series of 208 resection specimens containing gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) adenocarcinomas, with 56 specimens containing Barrett's Mucosa. The 49% positive Chromogranin in GEJ adenocarcinomas, which is adjacent, might be helpful in the assessment of patient outcome.

Differential Expression of S100C in thyroid lesions

Article Abstract:

A new protein, S100C, which is highly expressed in papillary carcinomas, is identified by comparing 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis of microdissected cells from tumors and normal thyroid tissue. These findings suggest that immunohistochemical staining of S100C could be helpful in the pathological study of thyroid lesions.

Immunohistochemical expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and C-KIT in cutaneous melanocytic lesions

Article Abstract:

Investigation of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and C-KIT, to find their immunohistochemical expression in melanocytic lesions are done. The results show that assessment of VEGF expression might aid in the differential diagnosis between dysplastic nevi and melanomas.
