A case of 77-yaer-old woman who is suffering from hypertension, which is associated with artrial fibrillation, is presented. The American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association (ACC-AHA) Task Force on practice and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Committee for practice has published guidelines for the management of artrial fibrillation

Use of automated external defibrillators by a U.S. airline

Article Abstract:

The use of an automated external defibrillator by flight attendants on an airline appears to be safe and effective. In a study of 200 airline passengers who lost consciousness, the defibrillator accurately identified 13 who were in cardiac arrest and delivered a shock to re-start their heart. Forty percent survived to be discharged from a hospital.

The automated external defibrillator: critical link in the chain of survival

Article Abstract:

This review evaluates the automated external defibrillator in terms of its safety, user friendliness, accuracy, and its effectiveness in terminating ventricular fibrillation. Research shows that ventricular fibrillation is one of the leading causes of death and early defibrillation improves the survial chances.
