Normalization of hemoglobin level in patients with chronic kidney disease and anemia

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine the effect of correction of anemia and normalization of the hemoglobin level in patients with stage 3 or 4 chromic kidney disease on the cardiovascular outcomes. The results prove that correction of anemia gives improved outcomes, as it can strongly predict the death and complications from cardiovascular causes, where as the normalization of hemoglobin fails to improve the left ventricular indexes and decreases the risk of death.

Overweight, obesity, and mortality in a large prospective cohort of persons 50 to 71 years old

Article Abstract:

A study examined body-mass index (BMI) in relation to the risk of death from any cause in more than 500,000 people who were 50 to 71 years of age. Results revealed an increased risk of death for the highest and lowest categories of BMI among both men and women, in all racial or ethnic groups, and at all ages, and that excess body weight during midlife, including overweight, was related to an increased risk of death.

The medical management of depression

Article Abstract:

Major Depression, a common and serious illness, is called depressive disorder and has accounted for 4.4 percent of total overall global disease burden, a contribution similar to that of ischemic heart disease or diarrheal diseases. Effective treatment of depression might reduce mortality or improve the outcome after acute myocardial infarction or stroke and lower the risk of suicide.
