Rhinosporidiosis reported in U.S. AIDS patient

Article Abstract:

A case of nasal rhinosporidiosis in a 33 year-old AIDS patient has been documented by Texas researchers and presented to the 98th General Meeting of the American Society of Microbiology held on May 17-21, 1998 in Atlanta, GA. The patient reported chronic sinusitis, unrelieved by oral antibiotics. Researchers believed that the rhinosporidiosis may have been caused by immunosuppression, which is prevalent among AIDS patients.
