Nurse executive characteristics: gender differences

Article Abstract:

A study of leadership characteristics in male nurse executives found that men may emulate female nurse executive styles in much the same way that women in male-dominated fields emulate male executive styles. Evaluation of the female-dominated nursing profession considered executives' personal characteristics, supervisory, organizational, and management styles. While there were differences in perceptions of personal and work conflict, the study found little variance in executive leadership styles between men and women.
