OIG guidance on industry gifts strict on compliance

Article Abstract:

The AMA and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) are looking into the issue of drug company gifts to doctors and organizing campaigns to educate the physicians that the gifts have to be modest in scope and of some benefits to the patients. Dr, Michael Maves, AMA Executive Director urged that a safe protection be created to ensure that companies could continue to subsidize CME programs at medical society meetings without the fear of violating anti-kickback laws.
