Obstetrical deliveries associated with maternal malignancy in California, 1992 through 1997

Article Abstract:

Cancer during pregnancy may have an impact on the health of mother and baby but will not increase the mother's risk of death, according to a study of 3,168,911 births over a 6-year period in California. However, the risk of fetal death in women with cervical cancer is higher than normal.

Trauma during pregnancy: an analysis of maternal and fetal outcomes in a large population

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to analyze the occurrence rates, risk factors, and timing of obstetric delivery for trauma sustained during pregnancy. It was observed that women delivering at the trauma hospitalization had worst maternal/fetal/neonatal outcomes as compared to others and that women sustaining trauma prenatally had increased morbidities, higher rate of abruption, premature delivery, low birth weight at delivery, over noninjured control women.

Association of maternal fractures with adverse perinatal outcomes

Article Abstract:

The effects of fracture injuries on maternal and fetal/neonatal outcomes in a large obstetric population are assessed. The results have shown that the fractures during pregnancy are an important marker for poor perinatal outcomes, hence pregnant women with fracture should be considered as candidates for prophylactic anticoagulation.
