The fetal electrocardiogram: relationship with acidemia at delivery

Article Abstract:

Time interval analysis of the fetal electrocardiogram could be used to detect acidemia in the fetus, according to a study of 679 pregnant women who had fetal monitoring during labor. Acidemia means the baby's blood is too acidic, which could be a sign of a metabolic disorder.
