Three alternative devices for use during menstrual periods are available on the market. Two insertable cups that collect menstrual fluid are Ultrafem's Instead, a disposable cup, while The Keeper is a reusable cup. The Fresh 'n Fit Padette is a tiny pad that fits in the labia.

Women should adjust their lifestyles to build or maintain bone mass as they get older. Women between 15 and 20 years of age should exercise and consume high levels of calcium, while women over the age of 50 should focus on calcium consumption and estrogen therapy.
