Pharmacological facilitation of primary percutaneous coronary intervention for acute myocardial infarction: Is the slope of the curve the shape of the future?

Article Abstract:

Multiple randomized and nonrandomized trials to review the pathophysiology of reperfusion therapy in acute myocardial infarction to derive insights about the likelihood of success of a strategy of facilitated percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared with transfer only or fibrinolysis only is analyzed. Two conclusions are made that are the Reimer and Jennings wavefront hypothesis of evolving infarction, and the curve of the relationship between time to treatment and extent of myocardial salvage in the clinical arena.

Sex differences and genetic associations with myocardial infarction

Article Abstract:

Myocardial Infarction (MI) is a complex trait to which multiple environmental and genetic factors contribute. The specific genetic variants that underline susceptibility to MI and the reasons as to why there appears to be a protective advantage against MI in women compared with men are discussed.

Plasma adiponectin levels and risk of myocardial infarction in men

Article Abstract:

The association of plasma adiponectin concentrations with the risk of is argued. The relationship is explained through differences in blood lipids, lack of inflammation and glycemic status.
