Coronary heart disease in women - an ounce of prevention

Article Abstract:

Prevention is key to reducing the incidence of coronary heart disease in women, which has been linked to poor diet, smoking, and overweight. A healthy lifestyle and hormone-replacement therapy can reduce the risk and slow the progression of coronary disease in women.

Phenotype and course of Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome

Article Abstract:

A study to examine cases of children suffering from Hutchinson-Guilford progeria syndrome, a degenerative disease and lamin A being the gene carrying it is conducted. Results indicate that the lamin A gene is vital to help develop the understanding of ageing.

Pharmacogenomics - ready for prime time?

The increasing attention that pharmacogenomics is gaining among the medical fraternity is discussed. Clinicians anticipate a specific drug in measured doses for a specific ailment without any effect on the rest of the body will soon be a reality.
