Physicians hold key to boosting organ donation, awareness

Article Abstract:

A medical coalition, comprised of several national physicians groups, has launched a public-education campaign to increase organ donations. The campaign, which was launched on Apr 17, 1996, targets physicians and other health professionals as important sources of information about organ donation. About 3,000 people died in 1995 while waiting for an organ transplant, according to the Coalition on Organ and Tissue Donation.

Physicians sometimes forget basic good manners

Article Abstract:

Physicians should remember to treat their patients with consideration and respect, regardless of professional pressures and the rigors of medical education. Treating someone discourteously can be bad for a doctor's practice, and in the event of a tragic mistake, callous conduct can create or worsen legal problems. Examples of poor service and bad mistakes are given.
