Professional liability issues in graduate medical education

Article Abstract:

The various aspects of professional liability pertinent to the graduate medical education (GME) setting and the legal issues involved are discussed. The legal expectations imposed on GME programs may increase due to a growing understanding of the role of organizational factors in contributing to and preventing medical injury.

The locality rule and the physician's dilemma: Local medical practices vs the national standard of care

Article Abstract:

The implications of the persistence of the locality rule on physicians in the U.S. are examined. A resource-based, nationwide standard of care should be adopted in all jurisdictions so that the medical malpractice cases can become more evidence-based.
