Program trains seniors to teach about environmental health: ALPHA emeritus members aid children's health

Article Abstract:

ALPHA's most senior members are helping kids and communities to learn about the importance of a healthy environment as a part of national program. The members of the ALPHA's Conference of Emeritus Members are working with the Children's Environmental Health Program where the seniors are recruited to educate on environmental hazards that negatively affect the health of children.

ALPHA works for adequate public health funding in '05

ALPHA has taken an active role in advocating for adequate public health funding under the 2005 federal budget. George Benjamin, executive director of ALPHA, who was among the speakers at the Capitol Hill briefing, highlighted the need for increasing public health funding in the year 2005 federal budget.

ALPHA supports strong seat belt laws, drug price negotiations

Article Abstract:

ALPHA has taken number of public bills supporting measures that would strengthen seat belt laws, lower drug prices for seniors and the opposing bill that threatens immigrants. Legislations and policies under which these points are discussed are reported.
