Education: does it fit?

Article Abstract:

There needs to be a greater amount of partnering between UK educational institutions and health service departments as to the best way to prepare nurses for a future National Health Service which will be more open to career development. Clinical monitoring and defining will allow practioners a greater degree of influence when determining educational needs within the nursing profession. Educational experts believe the service has become dominated by graduate trainees, leaving little room for less qualified people.

Article Abstract:

A course relating to nursing elderly people has demonstrated that education can alter ageist attitudes. The course aimed to encourage attitudes that would improve health care. Participants completed questionaires before and after the course to monitor changes. E. Palmore's 'Facts on Aging; A Short Quiz' helped students identify ageist attitudes. By the end of the course students had revealed increased perception of stereotypical views.
