Prolonged QT interval

Article Abstract:

Temporary heart irregularities, known as prolonged QT intervals, may be caused by a genetic predisposition, or by one of more than 50 medications taken individually or in combination. A prolonged QT interval is a disturbance in the heart's ability to conduct electricity.

Atrial fibrillation: newer treatments improve management of this irregular heartbeat

Article Abstract:

The symptoms of atrial fibrillation vary among different patients. Research indicates that the condition can increase the risk of stroke. Treatments include anti-arrhythmic drugs, electrical cardioversion, digoxin and calcium channel blockers.
