Protecting the patient at risk

Article Abstract:

Nurses can control infection for patients at risk by defining plans for individual patients. Risk assessment should be part of that plan. Risk factors to be considered include the type of illness from which the patient is suffering, which drugs are being administered, what invasive procedures are being carried out, local factors such as swelling and skin lesions, and general factors like the patient's age, mental and physical state.
