Protein deficiency affects T-cell subsets in TB model

Article Abstract:

The relationship between protein deficiency and the pronounced changes in Mycobacterium-specific T-cell functions is one of the reasons for the lowered resistance experienced by malnourished patients to tuberculosis. Protein deficiency not only lowers the tuberculin-induced delayed-type hypersensitivity but also impairs the proliferation of interleukin-2 production of peripheral blood lymphocytes. It is hypothesized that antigen-reactive T cells are sequestered in the lymph nodes rendering them incapable in acting against the infection.

Another study finds GBV-C/HGV doesn't affect HCV course

Article Abstract:

A study by Masaru Enomoto and other Japanese researchers from Osaka City University Medical School have further proven that hepatitis G virus infection does not affect the severity of hepatitis C virus diseases. Despite significant exposure to the hepatitis G virus, half of the patients suffering from chronic hepatitis C at the Osaka University Medical School were cleared of the former virus. Similar findings about the inability of even chronic hepatitis G virus infection to alter the severity of hepatitis C have been earlier reported.

HIV tritherapy doesn't affect HCV viral load

Article Abstract:

The multidrug AIDS cocktail, an antiretroviral therapy for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, wields no effect on either the biological activity of hepatitis C virus-related (HCV) chronic hepatitis or the hepatitis viral load. Although significant immune restoration has been observed, patients with both HCV and HIV who are receiving triple combination antiretroviral therapy registered no significant alteration of alanine aminotransferase activity or of HCV viral load.
