Putting doctor data on Internet

Article Abstract:

MedAccess Corp., a medical information service company in Lexington, MA, is beginning to generate information about the medical professional to be distributed via the Internet. The Internet site, which is designed for advocacy groups, payers and healthcare recipients, will include public disclosure of information about doctors. The database will provide information about practice performance, procedures performed by each particular doctor and malpractice claims.

Honoring a vanishing breed - the country doctor

Article Abstract:

Long-time rural physician Josephine Newell, past president of the North Carolina Medical Society, has set up Country Doctor of the Year Award. The winner will receive one week of service from an interim physician so that they can take a vacation. Newell, who retired in 1990, maintained a practice in rural Bailey, NC, for 24 years. Additional background information about Newell and the prize she has set up is provided.

Article Abstract:

Pharmaceutical companies are increasing their use of drug sales representatives to market products to doctors. The increased approval of new drugs is contributing to the need for more drug detailers. Pharmaceutical companies are providing more training on science and pharmacology for sales representatives. Automated information systems may eventually limit the need for sales representatives.
