Article Abstract:

It is important to consider how medical care is delivered from the viewpoint of the patient, the nurses and the entire medical team, according to Catherine Elcoat, deputy head of the UK National Health Service (NHS) clinical governance support team. She believes that practical examples will play a valuable role in clearly explaining clinical governance to nurses, doctors and managers in the NHS. She emphasizes that clinical governance involves analyzing areas of practice, considering what the team does and developing best practice with a small number of key guidelines.
